The Salt Lake Railroad was preparing to run a special train from Riverside to Wineville each morning, to return in the evening, to allow cannery workers to get to and from work at the Sterns Cannery in Wineville.
Hey Kim it's Stern, not Sterns, as you once pointed out to me. = Charles Stern and sons Winery - east side of Etiwanda about a half mile north of Union Pacific Tracks at Mira Loma aka Wineville, Stalder, etc. My uncle Olmer Sims worked for him as a mechanic, and that's how my parents came to Riverdale Acres just before I was born. = Has nothing to do with Abel Stearns who owned most of Jurupa Valley (and quite a lor of Los Angeles County as well) at one time. = Changed from Stern Winery to Stern Cannery during Prohibition.
