One Year Anniversary Give-Aways!
The Jurupa History blog is celebrating its one year anniversary this month! In order to spread the excitement and happiness that brings me to the rest of you, I will be having some give aways this month. I will post the give away item (all of which were purchased by me and only me) and request comments. Everyone who comments on that particular post will be placed in a random drawing for the item, which will then be hand delivered or mailed, depending on your location in the world. Stay tuned! All prizes will, of course, be related to local southern California history.

Regarding the Riverside Cement Company located on Jurupa Rd (?) in Riverside (?)...
ReplyDeleteThey used to publish a calendar every year (early 1970's) which they gave away to their customers. The calendar featured illustrations of heavy equipment used by Riverside Cement Company in their operations (dump trucks, cement trucks, steam shovels, etc.) I grew up in Riverside, and I fell in love with these illustrations on these calendars! Now, I am trying to find one of these calendars to identify the artist/illustrator responsible for such wonderful images. Would you be able to help me?
I am sorry but I have never seen one of these calendars. Would that possibly been Robertson's Ready Mix? They were located on Van Buren Boulevard, very near the river. Riverside Cement is located on Rubidoux Boulevard near the County Line. Both companies are still in existance (although Robertson's no longer uses their site on Van Buren.) I suggest contacting them and inquiring about the calendar directly with them.
