Rubidoux Bridge

A bridge crossing the Santa Ana River between today's Rubidoux and Riverside dates to the 1890s. You might be surprised to learn that the bridge that we use today is over 50 years old and dates to 1958. Rumor has it that the the county is looking into replacing it. Below is a photo of the bridge next to the one it replaced, courtesy of Riverside County Flood Control. Our current bridge is the one on the right.

  1. Ashley the original bridge was a little downstream of the current one you can see the pilings of the original next to the dog park. Original was swept away in a flood in 1927 and that is when it was supposedly replaced by the current which I don't know where the 1958 date for replacement came from. if you look closely at the architecture it could date any time from 1927 to a retro look for 58 it's hard to tell but you can still see the remains of the original bridge if you walk out on the River bottom just a little bit down river from the current bridge they're still there
